Alfalfa with 5% linseed oil for extra energy and condition 


Super Alfalfa is a locally produced, high-quality alfalfa mix containing 5% linseed oil. This alfalfa mix is ideal for mixing with regular concentrate feed or as a supplement to balancers. Feeding alfalfa increases eating time, stimulates saliva production, and provides the horse with additional protein to support body weight and condition. 


Why linseed oil? Linseed has a general, health-promoting effect. It contains a high amount of omega-3 fatty acids (40–60%) and also omega-6 fatty acids. These essential fatty acids have anti-inflammatory properties and support the immune system. They also have a positive effect on the stomach and intestinal mucosa, the intestines, and digestion. Linseed oil can help with summer eczema and arthritis, and it contributes to good shedding and a shiny coat. Linseed oil is also a source of extra energy and contains good amounts of phosphorus.

Adjust the feeding rate depending on the goal you want to achieve.

  • If you mainly want to add extra fibers: feed 100 – 400g/100kg bodyweight per day. For example, feed a 500kg horse 750g-2kg each day.
  • If you want to add extra proteins or in case you only feed a balancer: feed up to 500g-1kg Super alfalfa per 100kg bodyweight each day. For example, feed a 500kg horse 2.5-5kg per day.

Do not exceed 1kg/100kg bodyweight per day in total. Divide into at least 2 or 3 meals per day. Ensure a minimum intake of 1.5kg/100kg bodyweight of forage per day. Fresh drinking water must be available at all times.
