Veteran Cubes
Saracen Veteran Cubes are manufactured so that they are softer than other traditional nuts, whilst remaining dust free. This will help horses which have trouble chewing due to poor teeth. For these horses with teeth problems, the pencils can be soaked to produce an easily eaten mash.
This latest Veteran formulation now has a greater emphasis placed on the use of Saracen "Super-fibres" technology. "Super-fibre" sources contain a similar level of accessible calories to that of cereals. This enables the cereal portion of the recipe to be reduced and consequently the starch level of the diet is reduced. This helps to avoid the likelihood of any digestive disorders caused by high cereal based diets.
With the addition of high levels of vegetable oil combined with "Super-fibres" energy in the diet is made available to the horse slowly, thus helping avoid the fizz that can be associated with cereal based diets.
Veteran Cubes also include essential antioxidants, such as Vitamin E. Antioxidants act to mop free radicals helping the horse to maintain normal muscle function and decrease recovery time after exercise.
Providing optimum levels of antioxidants through Saracen Veteran Cubes will ensure that the older horse receives the many health benefits provided by the inclusion of antioxidants in the ration including; maintenance of normal metabolic systems and immune function, thus affording the veteran horse the best protection to maintain a healthy and active lifstyle.
Just the same as the original ration, the new improved Saracen Veteran Cubes contains the higher quality protein levels required by the older horse. Levels of vitamins, minerals and phosphorous are also increased. This high-fibre, high-oil diet, with the addition of four different herbs, remains as palatable and nutritious as ever.

Ponies 200 - 400 kg bodyweight = 1 - 2 kg per day*
Horses 400 - 600 kg bodyweight = 2 - 3.5 kg per day*
Large horses >600 kg = 3.5 - 5 kg per day*
*Always try to feed a minimum of 1.5% of bodyweight as good quality forage. E.g. a 500 kg horse would eat 7.5 kg of hay per day. These eed levels give the minimum and maximum feeding rates for each range of bodyweights, ie a pony of any bodyweight between 200 to 400 kg could be fed between 1 - 2 kg per day, depending on their requirements.
